A 12-year old Dawson Creek girl is in hospital after a near drowning.
Police are investigating the incident, but believe a lake intake grate may have played a part in keeping the girl under water.
Dawson Creek RCMP say an officer and other emergency services responded to a call at Rotary Lake last Saturday at 6:20pm.
People at the lake say the girl was submerged for several minutes before the first arriving officer was able to begin life saving measures.
The girl has been transported to hospital in the Lower Mainland, and is reported to be in grave condition on life support.
Police have requested the lake be drained to examine and ensure there’s no risk to public safety.
