Several members of the Lax Kw’alaams First Nation expressed their support for the Eagle Spirit Energy Project when they met with representatives on Monday in Prince Rupert.
Lax Kw’alaams leaders endorsed the Eagle Spirit Energy Project, saying it will give the First Nation much needed economic and employment opportunities.
Councilor Chris Sankey said Eagle Spirit will offer the highest level of environmental protection and economic benefit to the community.
Hereditary House Leader Robert Sankey said once their environmental concerns have been met, the community needs jobs now.
Several Hereditary Chiefs lashed out against prominent and vocal opponents of the Eagle Spirit Project, saying they say don’t represent their community.
