The Lax Kw’alaams Band is holding a number of community meetings this week.
The sessions kick off Monday with a swearing in ceremony of recently elected Mayor John Helin and council members.
Community members have also been invited to a meeting about Lelu Island and Flora Bank Tuesday.
One of the sessions will be held in the Lax Kw’alaams gym while the other will be in the North Coast Meeting and Convention Centre in Prince Rupert.
The Lax Kw’alaams announced this fall that it was proceeding with a title claim of Flora Bank and Lelu Island, which is the proposed site of the Pacific NorthWest LNG project.
The First Nation says these two meetings will be followed up with additional sessions in February and March in Lax Kw’alaams, Prince Rupert, Terrace, and Vancouver.
Trades training will be the subject of an information session at the Highliner Hotel in Prince Rupert Wednesday.
