The Mckay Street Park in Prince Rupert has been in desperate need for a new park and the time has finally come.
For the past few years, Mckay Street park has been neglected and there’s been an increased amount of drug activity and violence.
Ken Shaw, president of Transition in Prince Rupert says they received 87 thousand votes for the project, which brought the whole community together.
Shaw says this is a great opportunity for kids to get out in the neighborhood, be active and be safe.
For the next few weeks, Transition will be consulting with the BCA, and eventually, start clearing out the park.
