A leaked 2014 audit reveals troubling information about northern BC energy companies.
According to the leaked report, companies are routinely ignoring rules put in place to protect caribou habitats.
The report suggests that just one third of wells are following appropriate rules, while not a single road or pipeline followed all the requirements.
Infractions include wells being larger than allowed, pipelines running side-by-side with roads, and pipelines running directly to bodies of water without buffers.
All of the areas reviewed fell within Fort Nelson’s traditional territory.
