A grizzly bear sow and cubs have been sighted in the Kuldo extension area of Kitimat and conservation officers are urging the public to stay away.
Conservation Officer Scott Senkiw says there have been reports of people getting near the sow and cubs as well as cars stopping to take pictures.
He says that can lead to a dangerous situation for humans and the bear.
Senkiw says he’s heard reports of the sow false charging a car, but he says it’s normal behavior given it’s breeding season.
He encourages people to avoid the area for now and to give them a lot of space, adding the sow and cubs should move on in about a month.
