Extremely dry conditions and low water levels have led the Ministry of Forests and Lands to declare a level 4 drought for the Stikine and Skeena-Nass regions.
As a result, the Ministry is asking residents to conserve water and voluntarily restrict the use of surface and groundwater.
Level 4 is the highest voluntary drought level that the province can issue and, if conditions continue to worsen, the next step could be involuntary restrictions.
In addition, the Upper and Middle Fraser, Peace, Nechako, and Central Coast regions are all under a level 3 drought.
