The BC Wildfire Service says lightning sparked several new forest fires across the province.
The Prince George Fire Centre is responding to 12 new wildfires, including two very visible ones.
Officials say the 60 hectare Dog Creek Trail wildfire is burning 25 kilometres northwest of Vanderhoof.
There are 22 firefighters, helicopters, and air tankers being used as needed to fight the flames.
Airtankers are also tackling a smaller fire just 4km west of Valemount, but there are currently no structure threatened by the flames.
