Logging has begun at the Skeena Industrial Development Park.
The industrial park, which is located just south of the airport, is a partnership between the Kitselas First Nation and the City of Terrace looking to bring companies into the city.
The first phase of the logging will see 295 of 1,187 acres cleared with businesses eventually operating from the area.
Kitselas First Nation Chief Joe Bevan says he’s very happy that logging has begun after a bit of delay.
Bevan says as the area grows, so will the opportunities for members of the Kitselas First Nation.
Terrace Mayor Carol Leclerc says the industrial park will help expand the industrial sector in the city.
The first phase of logging is expected to take 90 days with local companies taking on majority of the work to clear the area.
