Terrace City Council held firm on the rules during this edition’s final meeting last night, and a popular sign could be a casualty.
Though it has been mounted to the side of the Visitor Information Centre for some time, it appears the Love Terrace sign has been breaking the law.
It turns out the sign, which was supplied by the Love Local program, is actually significantly larger than what is allowed by the City’s bylaws.
After making the discovery, development services brought a request before council to allow for a variance that would enable the sign to remain where it is.
Council ultimately declined the recommendation after councillors Bujtas and Cordeiro voiced concerns over the precedent the change would set.
All councillors agreed that the Love Terrace program is important and beneficial, and in order to remain in it, the sign will have to find a new location to be displayed.
