The BC Coroners Service has identified a man killed in a bear attack near Mackenzie
Officials say 27 year-old Daniel Ward Folland O’Connor of Mackenzie was camping with his fiancée near the Parsnip River over the weekend.
O’Conner was sleeping outside near a campfire Saturday night while his fiancée was in the motorhome.
After waking up, the fiancée found O’Connor dead and she went for help.
RCMP and Conservation officers confirmed O’Connor’s injuries were consistent with a black bear attack.
The bear believed responsible for O’Conner’s death was located and destroyed.
The BC Coroners Service and RCMP are investigating.
