Man and dog walking the Highway of Tears to raise awareness of murdered and missing young women

A man and his dog are walking the Highway of Tears to raise awareness of murdered and missing young women along the corridor.

Brett Merchant says he was inspired to do the 1,236km walk after seeing a documentary on the Highway of Tears.

Merchant also has his dog, Kura on the walk as well.

He says Kura is his rock.

Merchant says he’s also facing SLE lupus, early onset dementia, and diabetes. He really wants to make a physical difference in the world before he won’t be able to.

He hopes every person can live a healthy and happy life in this world.

Merchant and Kura started the walk September first at the BC and Alberta border and plan to finish up in Haida Gwaii in December.

He’s also raising money during the walk and says it will go toward women’s shelters.
