Smithers RCMP have one person in custody after another arson at a local mill.
Mounties and the Smithers Fire Department responded to Pacific Inland Resources shortly after 10 PM Sunday for a report of two fires.
Investigators say both fires were intentionally set with the use of an accelerant.
Mill employees were able to activate the facility’s fire suppression systems and, with the help of firefighters, were able to put out the fire before the flames spread throughout the facility.
RCMP say they arrested a 49-year-old man in the area. He remains in custody while the RCMP Forensic Identification Team assists with the investigation.
Pacific Inland Resources was hit by arson March 19th. Investigators say a flammable liquid was used in that case as well.
