A man has died following a crash near Moricetown late Friday.
RCMP say it happened around 9:30 p.m. on Highway 16.
Police say that an eastbound tractor trailer collided with a moose, causing the animal to go into the path of a westbound Dodge pickup truck. The moose struck the pickup which sent the vehicle landing on its roof in the ditch, trapping a man and woman inside.
The 32-year-old male driver of the pickup died at the scene, while the woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The highway was closed for an extended period time, although was reopened Saturday morning.
Corporal Madonna Saunderson says it’s important for driver to be vigilant for wildlife.
Police continue to investigate the cause of the crash and believe alcohol or speed are not factors in the crash.
