The search is continuing for a man who has gone missing off the coast of Haida Gwaii.
Brent Hendren was reported as possibly missing earlier this week by a friend.
Hendren lives on Kumdis Island between the communities of Masset and Port Clements.
He was reported to have borrowed a small rowboat over the past week to travel between his home and the two villages and was last seen in Port Clements Sunday morning.
Andrew Merilees, mayor of Masset provides an update.
The rowboat was found adrift in the Watun River area.
Crews have found a personal item of Hendren’s in the Ain River area located on the west side of Masset inlet.
Merilees says it’s common for people in the area to travel by boat, if not rowboat.
He says the weather in the past few days has been ok, but there have been strong winds, adding that Masset Inlet is strongly influenced by tidal conditions.
The search continues, but Merilees says it has been a few days now, and while hoping for the best, they’re bracing for the worst.
