RCMP say they have located what they believe is the body of a missing two-year-old Alberta girl.
Police confirmed Tuesday night that the body was discovered in a rural area near Blairmore, Alberta, the community that two-year-old Hailey Dunbar-Blanchette went missing from Monday. Her father, Terry Blanchette, was the victim of a homicide.
“The RCMP extends its deepest condolences to Hailey’s family. This is a sad day for the citizens of Blairmore and all Canadians who have held this little girl in their thoughts and prayers since Monday,” said RCMP Superintendent Tony Hamori, Assistant District Officer in Southern Alberta. “We can’t say much about the investigation at this point, other than to thank the public and the media for helping us find Hailey.”
RCMP say the man arrested in connection with the homicide and disappearance remains in custody. Mounties say charges are pending against the 22-year-old Blairmore resident, but police have not identified him.
