NDP North Coast MLA Jennifer Rice is launching a province-wide fact finding tour to see what barriers expectant families are facing when it comes to accessing maternity services.
Rice is the Opposition Spokesperson for Rural and Northern Health.
She says there’s been a move towards centralizing services, but that means significant barriers for those living in rural and remote communities.
She says she wants to speak with health care providers as well as expectant mothers to hear what works in their communities and what changes they would like to see.
Her first stop is the Bella Coola Valley from March 4th to 7th.
