The Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls has started up in Smithers this morning.
The first person who testified was Vicki Hill, Vicki lost her mother when she was 6 months old just outside of Prince Rupert.
Hill came to Smithers to share her story, and to show solidarity with the other families who lost loved ones on the highway of tears.
Hill added the RCMP didn’t follow up on her mother’s death.
CFNR’s Ashley Anthony is in Smithers reporting on location and she says Hill wants more communication on Highway 16.
The Inquiry will resume at 1pm.
