Prince Rupert RCMP are reminding local businesses and residents to make sure their surveillance gear is working properly.
The reminder comes as a trend of break and enters continues in the city.
RCMP say someone kicked in the door of a 1st Avenue business at about 6 a.m. Wednesday and grabbed about $200 in cash.
Investigators are canvassing the area for video surveillance footage, witnesses, and other evidence.
Mounties were also called to a business break-in Monday along 6th Avenue West that saw nearly $1600 in cash taken. Investigators believe the culprit may have entered through an unlocked door sometime over the weekend.
The Prince Rupert RCMP says an up-tick in break-ins has been noticed over the last number of months.
