Starting tomorrow, residents around Terrace will have a few more recycling options.
The Do Your Part recycling depot in Thornhill is now accepting glass, styrofoam, and soft plastics.
Those materials weren’t accepted by the various curbside recycling programs between the city and regional district.
The only major change for Terrace residents is that glass won’t be accepted at the curb anymore.
Tara Irwin is a city planner with the City of Terrace.
She says recycling has been strong embraced by residents of Terrace.
Irwin says Terrace has one of the highest recycling rates in the northwest region, if not the highest.
She also says people who live in places where there is no curbside recycling service, like in mobile homes or apartments, now have a recycling option.
An updated list of what will be accepted at curb and what can be brought to the depot will be on the City of Terrace’s website and Facebook page by the end of the day.
As for future plans, Irwin says there are discussions about changing the recycling containers for curbside pickup, as well as potentially expanding the organics recycling program.
