The BC Coroners service has formally identified a man and woman who died in a police-involved shooting last week in Granisle.
Officials say 39-year-old Jovan (Joe) Williams and his mother, 73-year-old Shirley Beatrice Williams, both of Granisle were killed in a confrontation with RCMP last Thursday afternoon.
RCMP cordoned off the home after receiving a complaint about a dispute involving a handgun. About two hours later, both Joe Williams and his mother were dead after what police described as a “confrontation” with officers and shots were fired.
The Independent Investigations Office of BC is investigating the incident.
