NDP MP Nathan Cullen fielded a number of questions on electoral reform in this morning’s phone in media scrum.
Cullen took aim at comments made by Maryam Monsef who is Minister of Democratic Institutions.
She was reported as saying she hasn’t seen any consensus develop for a proportional voting system at the numerous town hall meetings held throughout Canada.
But Cullen says those comments are way off the mark.
Cullen added the ruling Liberal party appears to have backed off from their campaign promise of electoral reform as soon as they got into power.
But he does say the committee is doing good work that crosses party lines.
While the electoral reform report will be signed off by committee members this afternoon, the findings and results will remain confidential until presented to parliament on December 1st.
