Skeena-Bulkley Valley MP Nathan Cullen is pleased that Northern Gateway and the federal government are not going to appeal the court’s decision that struck down the project.
The proposed pipeline was to bring diluted bitumen from the Alberta oil sands through the Northwest to be loaded onto oil tankers in Kitimat.
Northern Gateway says they rather work out the details through consultations and not through the court system.
Cullen says that decision is the right step.
Although, he doesn’t see how a second round of talks will be beneficial.
Cullen says it will be interesting to see how the developments play out.
He says it will be especially hard if the Trudeau Government decides to put a moratorium on tanker traffic on the North Coast.
