MP Nathan Cullen lambasted the Federal Liberals today over last Thursday’s announcement regarding the sale of Ridley Terminals Inc.
The Liberals announced last week that they were looking for a private purchaser for the Crown Corporation.
Cullen called the purposed sale “short-sighted” and “hypocritical”, comparing it to a failed 2012 bid made by the former Conservative government.
According to Cullen, the Liberals are attempting to sell off a corporation that has recently become profitable after years of tax-payers pouring in funding to keep it afloat.
The statement also saw Cullen criticize the government’s marketing of the Terminal as the “Pacific Gateway”, calling it a tactic to shop the Terminal to purchasers.
He went on to say that the decision to sell doesn’t take the interests of the Northwest or Indigenous peoples in to consideration, and called for the government to make negotiations public.
