MP says residents flustered over proposed border closure

The MP for Skeena-Bulkey Valley says his office has received complaints from both sides of the border about a proposed closure between Stewart and Hyder, Alaska.

The NDP’s Nathan Cullen says the Canada Border Services Agency plan to close the border at night between the BC and Alaska communities is all about budget cuts, but he says it will cost the economy in the end.

The nightly closures are expected to start April 1st.

Cullen says he plans to contact the minister responsible to get the proposed closure reversed.
