This morning Patronas along with Progress Energy, contacted the B.C. Government to inform them that Pacific NorthWest will not be continuing with the 36 Billion dollar LNG project in Port Edward.
Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources Minister Michelle Mungall says the project was uneconomical and now the government can focus on developing the natural gas sector and Canadian jobs.
Mungall says she will be contacting other LNG Stakeholders to ensure them the new BC government is committed to their projects.
Despite rumours of the NDP government being the reasoning behind the withdrawal, Mungall says that the company just cant continue with the way global markets are looking.
Mungall says BC is still as player in the market and the jobs in British Columbia remain at the top of this governments priorities.
