The Terrace Fire Department says they’d be happy to see a national strategy to tackle post traumatic stress disorder.
Cariboo-Prince George MP Todd Doherty has introduced a private-member’s bill to create a cross-country framework to tackle PTSD.
Terrace Fire Department’s deputy chief Dave Jephson says they have a number of resources available.
One of their strategies is to encourage all of their members to talk about their experiences.
Jephson says having a federal PTSD plan will be a good step to ensuring people get help.
According to the Tema Conter Memorial Trust, 183 first responders and veterans have killed themselves since 2014.
