BC’s first report as part of their new poverty reduction strategy was released yesterday.
The “What We Heard” report is the result of a six month consultation process that ended in March.
According to the report, poverty is nearly twice as likely among Indigenous peoples, those with disabilities, people of colour, and single parents.
A lack of affordable housing in the province was again cited as a main cause of poverty in the province.
The report will be used by the NDP to see where to best focus the efforts of the next stage in the poverty reduction strategy.
