NDP leader John Horgan has announced changes to the opposition shadow cabinet, including a promotion for the first female First Nations member elected to the BC legislature.
Vancouver-Mount Pleasant MLA Melanie Mark has been named NDP spokesperson for children and family development.
Horgan says Mark, who has experience working with BC’s Representative for Children and Youth before being elected, will be a relentless advocate for the province’s most vulnerable children.
As part of the shuffle, Stikine MLA Doug Donaldson returns to the role of spokesperson for energy and mines.
Horgan says Donaldson has represented northern and rural BC well and understands the importance of resource extraction for the economy.
