The National Energy Board has issued a LNG license to Kitsault Energy.
The 20 year license allows Kitsault Energy to export 32.2 billion cubic metres of natural gas per year.
Kitsault Energy is headed by Krish Suthanthiran, who had purchased the company town after molybdenum prices crashed and the local mine closed.
The company is looking into constructing an LNG terminal at the currently uninhabited townsite.
Kitsault is at the head of Alice Arm, about 140km northeast of Prince Rupert and 115km northwest of Terrace.
