Parents of roughly 2,500 children are set to benefit from 53 prototype child care sites launching over the next 2 months.
Thanks to a 60 million dollar investment from the Federal Government’s Early Learning and Child Care Agreement, the sites will offer child care at just 200 dollars a month per child.
An application process took place in June which ultimately decided which sites would take part in the program.
Under the initiative, child care providers taking part will receive funding from the government to cover operational expenses.
Prototype facilities will also receive a one-time quality improvement grant in 2019.
43 of the sites began operating on November 1st, with the other 10 scheduled to start on December 1st.
The sites will operate until March of 2020.
