A boost is on the way for the heavy mechanical trades industry in the north with the opening a new facility at the College of New Caledonia.
The new facility will help students develop modern skills in the forestry, mining, and transportation industries.
251 full-time equivalent spaces and up to 48 new spaces will be available at the 23 hundred square metre facility.
Funding for the project was made possible via the Post-Secondary Institutions Strategic Investment Fund thanks to a collaboration between the provincial and federal governments.
In total the new facility cost 18.5 million dollars and is expected to contribute close to 90 new jobs per year.
