Health Minister Adrian Dix made it official Friday: Terrace will be getting a replacement for its aging hospital.
Dix, who made the announcement inside Mills Memorial, says the project has moved to the business planning stage after the concept plan was approved by government.
The business plan will finalize details like the scope of the new hospital and budget and will take 12 to 18 months.
The business plan will focus on costing and how services will be expanded within a replacement facility.
The new hospital is expected to be approximately twice the size of Mills Memorial, which was opened in 1961.
Once the business plan is approved, the project will proceed to procurement and construction.
