The government of BC has drafted ten new principles to help guide public service relations with Indigenous peoples.
Some of the areas addressed by the principles include: the right to self determination and self government, standards of conduct public service employees must adhere to when dealing with Indigenoud peoples, the need for treaties and other constructive agreements, and approaching consent in a collaborative and constructive way.
With the drafts also come new reconcilliation calls to action which cover: language revitalization, improving approaches to child care, and incorporating Indigenous knowledge in to resource management.
