New liquor rules causing price jumps

The Liberals and New Democrats are feuding about the price of booze before major liquor reforms take effect in BC on April Fool’s Day.

As of April 1st, grocery stores can sell alcohol in special sections, government-run liquor stores can open on Sundays and a new wholesale liquor-pricing model will be introduced.

But Attorney General Suzanne Anton suggests some alcohol suppliers are getting a jump on the wholesale rules by increasing their prices though she’s often said that wouldn’t happen.

NDP caucus chairman Shane Simpson says Anton is putting the blame on suppliers and producers when she should be apologizing for allowing beer and wine prices to increase.
