Geoscience BC is launching a new project in northwest BC.
The $2.5 million “Search” project will help explorers identify new mineral deposits.
The project will cover 6,700 square kilometres of airbone magnetic survey between Terrace and Smithers at a much higher resolution than previous surveys.
This will provide new, detailed data to attract exploration and investment to the area.
Minister of Energy and Mines Bill Bennett said in a statement that these types of surveys are vitally important in identifying new mineral deposits and diversifying local economies.
He adds that projects like Search will stimulate mineral investment in the region and complement other projects such as LNG projects.
Geoscience BC is a non-profit organization with a mandate to attract mineral and oil and gas investment to the province.
