A new medical textbook will give voice to indigenous perspectives and experiences on healthcare.
The book was created in part by two UNBC professors, Dr. Margo Greenwood and Sarah de Leeuw.
Professor de Leeuw says the book is one of a kind because it focuses on how a variety of current social and historical issues impact the healthcare experience for indigenous peoples.
She says the book was created with the collaboration of many indigenous contributors, particularly from the northwest.
She adds the textbook isn’t specifically for medical students, but also for policy makers to give them a different perspective.
The book was published this summer.
