The Government of BC is looking to help out those communities most effected by natural disasters.
The Union of BC Municipalities has 33.5 million dollars in emergency preparedness funding available to vulnerable communities in the province.
Funding will come by way of 3 parts of a planned 5 part initiative to help communities better prepare for and be able to respond to disasters.
The three parts released will cover expenses relating to: Non-structural flood mitigation, emergency social services, and emergency operation centre supplies.
In the future, the initiative will also cover structural flood mitigation, and the building and mapping of evacuation routes.
