New ocean observatory in Kitamaat Village

A new ocean observatory will soon be collecting data off the north coast shore.

Kitamaat Village is the next community to host a community observatory.

Ocean Networks Canada operates two networks off the BC coast, as well as two other community observatories.

Mercedes McLean is with the group and she says the observatory will help collect a variety of data.

Jessica Brown is also with the group, and she says having community and indigenous involvement is important.

There will be a community launch event tomorrow in Kitamaat Village, and then a presentation at the Haisla Community School.
