New off road vehicle rules come into effect November

Starting November 1, people operating off road vehicles on Crown land are subject to new registration and safety regulations.

The regulations cover helmet use, registration, seat belts, lights, and children operating off road vehicles.

Vehicle owners can now register at ICBC insurance brokers, and can also trade in their metal plates for a sticker option.

The Off Road Vehicle Act governs the rules of operation, safety standards, penalties and conditions of use for a wide range of ORVs, including snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles or “quads,” dirt bikes and side-by-sides.
