A new report on the LNG industry says many of the claims by the government are vastly overstated.
David Hughes is the author of the report, and is an energy expert and former scientist with the Geological Survey of Canada.
In the report, he says many of the claims by the province about the economic benefits, or estimates on the amount of recoverable natural gas don’t add up.
He also goes through several scenarios based on different numbers of LNG terminals being built, and their potential environmental and economic impacts.
Hughes was in the Northwest in April, presenting his findings prior to the report being published.
The report was published by the left-leaning Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives and can be found here.
