It took just over an hour for northern BC to welcome their first baby of the new year.
Smithers played host to the north’s first birth of 2019, as the Bulkley Valley District Hospital welcomed William Ross to the world at 1:01 yesterday morning.
William weighed in at a healthy six pounds, 14 ounces, and will join parents Nikki and Will, along with a sister at their home in Stewart.
It was a much shorter wait for British Columbia as a whole, as the Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster welcomed the province’s first child just a minute past midnight.
BC’s New Year’s, baby Dominik Soswa, joins parents Janet Shimzu and Lukasz Soswa.
As for Terrace, it took until 2:33 in the afternoon on New Year’s day for Mills Memorial to see their first birth.
Claire, and Shane Wiebe welcomed their baby girl to the world, weighing in at 8 pounds, 12 ounces.
