Nicola Valley First Nations occupy premier’s office

Members of First Nations bands from the Nicola Valley are occupying the Kelowna office of Premier Christy Clark.

Lower Nicola band Chief Aaron Sam says protesters want the government to stop trucking biosolids from the Okanagan and the Fraser Valley into the Nicola Valley.

The lower Nicola band and others have had a blockade up for 37 days and have met with Environment Minister Mary Polak twice to demand a moratorium, insisting there’s been no consultation with First Nations.

Two RCMP officers are on hand to keep an eye on the occupiers in Clark’s office.
