The Saik’uz First Nation is planning a park to commemorate survivors and families of those who attend Canada’s Residential School system.
The First Nation near Vanderhoof is receiving $40,000 from the Nechako-Kitamaat Development Fund toward building the project.
The park is one of six new projects receiving money from the NKDF Society Board.
Nechako Valley Search and Rescue will receive $61,678 to help renovate a building to be used as a search and rescue training facility.
The Lakes District Fall Fair will get $26,222 to help fund parking and washroom Upgrades.
The Kechako-Kitamaat Development Fund was established in 1997 with money from the BC government and Alcan.
