The Nechako-Kitamaat Development Fund Society’s latest outlays will benefit healthcare and musical education.
The NKDF is providing nearly $8,000 to upgrade the treatments room at the Southside Health and Wellness Centre.
Located on the south side of Francois Lake, the centre provides healthcare and wellness services to a number of First Nations communities in the area.
The society is also giving the District of Vanderhoof $15,000 to buy musical instruments for Nechako Valley Secondary’s School Music Program.
The Nechako-Kitamaat Development Fund Society was established in 1997 by the BC Government and Alcan, now Rio Tinto.
The society’s investment area includes the land flooded by the original Kemano project as well as communities in the Ootsa, Lakes, Nechako, and Haisla regions.
