Residents packed the council chambers in Terrace yesterday as Council reviewed a proposed retail cannabis store slated for the Skeena Mall.
Though there were many in attendance for the public hearing, attendees were content to simply listen to the proposal as none opted to supply council with feedback.
Ahead of the hearing, development services sent out a call for any business or property owner near the proposed location to voice any concerns.
They heard back from just one of the businesses in the area, with no negative feedback being received.
The onus now falls on City Council whether to approve or deny the province’s application to open the store.
If approved, the location will need to undergo significant renovations to meet provincial guidelines for a cannabis store, with an estimated opening date of sometime in March.
