An intense storm moving toward the Gulf of Alaska is bringing freezing rain to the Terrace area and snow to most other places.
Precipitation is expected to intensify this afternoon as the system advances and pushes through milder temperatures.
Kitimat will see flurries changing to rain, about 20 to 30mm this evening, Terrace get up to 5mm freezing rain, while Stewart will get 15 to 25cm of snow.
Environment Canada warns that surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots will become icy, slippery and hazardous; and ice build-up may cause tree branches to break.
