Contract talks covering over 1500 northern B.C. forestry workers will be going to mediation.
After two days of bargaining this week, United Steelworkers Local 1-2017 says the employer came to the table Wednesday and served notice that it was seeking mediation.
Labour Relations Board mediator Dave Schaub is scheduled to sit down next week with the union and the Council on Northern Interior Forest Employment Relations (CONIFER).
Steelworkers Local 1-2017 received a 93 per cent strike mandate from its members in a vote last month.
CONIFER represents operations in Houston, Burns Lake, Fort St. James, Prince George, Mackenzie, Fort St. John, Quesnel and Williams Lake.
