The Northern First Nations Leadership Alliance is calling on the new federal government to continue talks on major development projects in the north.
The alliance says they’ll initially focus on their opposition to the Site C dam.
Chief Roland Willson of the West Moberly First Nation says the era of destroying rivers should be over.
Adding that incoming Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made a number of promises to First Nations during his campaign, and they will hold him to them.
He also wants the government to focus more on alternative energies, pointing to the progress made in Germany.
Willson says the federal government has yet to issue its environmental permits for $8.3 billion dam project, which the province says is necessary to meet future energy demands.
