The Mayors of three Northern BC communities along with an elected councilor of the Haisla Nation want support for the LNG industry in BC.
Kitimat Mayor Phil Germuth, Dawson Creek Mayor Dale Bumstead, Fort St. John Mayor Lori Ackerman, and Haisla Councilor Kevin Stewart held an event at the BC Natural Resources Forum in Prince George this morning.
Ackerman called on all those in attendance to join the group on stage as she read a letter to the BC and Federal governments urging their strong support of the liquefied natural gas industry.
She told those gathered that it’s crucial to make British Columbians and Canadians see the benefit of adding value to the province’s natural gas reserves and diversifying trade opportunities rather than shipping raw natural gas to the United States, currently the only market outside of Canada.
BC Premier John Horgan is preparing for a trade mission to Asia, in part, to bolster support for LNG in BC.
